Another day another midi skirt… Obsessed much?!
I may have accidentally purchased this skirt in another colour. Oopsy.
In my defense though, the pink version was on sale and like I said before, I had been searching for the perfect full midi skirt for a while! If you are on to a good thing…
I generally wear a midi skirt with a cropped, fitted top but this time I styled it a little bit differently. (You know, to make it seem like a different skirt!)
 I kind of like the oversized, slouchy feel of this outfit. Although it is easy to look swamped when wearing baggy items together, I feel like by adding heels and slightly tucking the jumper in, it gives it less of a bulky look.

Reason number 3476 why I hate Winter: The Flu. 
A sore throat that never goes away, a nose that drips constantly, a sick child that coughs so much she vomits (all through the night!) Yep, Winter is officially flu season and it is very much alive in this household. I have been through a whole box of tissues today alone and my nose is still running.. Urghh! 

In an attempt to fight through the sickness haze and ‘look on the bright side’, I have had a think about some of the things I actually like about Winter. (I got stuck at three.) Coming in at the top of my rather dismal list though, is the coat. 
I try to stick to a classic style when it comes to coats, as there are only limited occasions to wear them through out the year (in this particular climate, anyway!) So, a coat that can last through multiple Winters is a must. I snapped this ASOS coat up on sale a few weeks ago and am quite happy about it! It’s great fit and perfect neutral colour means it will definitely be around to see me through the next few Winters, at least!  

Now if you’ll excuse me I must head out for some more tissues…

The Edit: The Birkenstock


I need help. Well, more specifically, I need your help. 
I am completely undecided on how I feel about the shoe of the moment, the Birkenstock.
On one hand I think they are hideous, I mean my Mum has been wearing them for years (no offence Mum!) and I certainly didn’t have an urge to rush out and buy a pair then. But, on the other hand, I see them styled with such perfection that it is hard not to go Birk crazy and get those babies on my feet in them ASAP. (Oh the power of the fashion industry!)
So, over to you, whats your opinion on the humble slide and more importantly, do I need a pair?!

Matchy match style is taking over, and to say I’m obsessed would be an understatement. 

 I feel like I’m not alone here either… Matching sets and coordinated fashions are everywhere at the moment. It has even gone beyond simply matching your own outfit, having a twin or sister to match your outfit to, is even better!
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately?!) there is only one of me, and I have tried matching outfits with my two year old daughter but it’s not quite the same (not to mention the weird looks we get!) 

So I had to settle for matching my skirt to my top in this polka dot ensemble by Atmos and Here. Not a bad compromise, I suppose!

Now if only I had a twin..

Finally part one of my India photo diary is here!
Today’s post is focusing on just one of the many places I have visited in India: Varkala.

Varkala is a small town situated on the coast in the state of Kerala. The unique cliff top boardwalk and layed back beach vibe coupled with the stunning ocean views draw many tourists to the area… Some never leave! I have visited Varkala a few times in recent years and have to say it is one of my favourite places in India. Perfect for a chilled out break from the seeming chaos that is India!

For anyone planning a trip, I have put together my personal guide to Varkala!

Place to Stay: Akhil Beach Resort is a luscious tropical resort at a very reasonable price. The rare luxury of a pool makes this a must stay in my opinion, especially if you are travelling with kids! They also have an Ayurvedic centre, daily yoga classes and a restaurant.

Place to Eat: Pretty much all the food in Varkala (or India for that matter!) is amazing and you can get all types of cuisine along the cliff top. My favourite eatery was Abba Restaurant, which we unfortunately only discovered on the last day! Everything we ate was so divine and I highly recommend the momos!

Place to Drink: No holiday is complete without cocktails at sunset, right? Luckily there is a place that delivers both of these at the north end of the cliff. Sunset Restaurant has the best mojitos around and the endless view of the ocean provides the perfect setting.

Must see: Take a walk up the end of the north cliff, near the helipad, to watch the incredible sunsets India has to offer. We actually made an effort to catch the sunset each day as it was always so breathtaking! 
Special mention: If you, like me, can not function without a daily dose of caffeine, then you must visit the Coffee Temple. Home of possibly the best coffee in India!

India ’13

 
Ok, that’s it… Holiday mode is officially over! I have finally snapped out of it and as promised here is my photo diary from our recent trip to India.
As you can see, most of our time was spent hanging by the beach! Being the first trip overseas with our little one, we chose not to be too crazy and adventurous. We pretty much stayed at Kovalam Beach the whole trip with a quick stopover at Varkala (also a beach location!!) for a few nights on the way down. It was so great just to chill out, eat indian food, and of course enjoy plenty of cocktails! 
The thought of travelling to a third world country with an eight month old was very nerve wracking in the lead up to the trip, so we made an effort to plan ahead as much as possible. I think having been to India a few times already meant that we knew what to expect so could plan accordingly. Luckily for us everybody stayed safe and well and we had a nice, relaxing holiday. 
 
For anyone planning to travel to India or somewhere similar with a baby, I thought I would share with you some of my tips for an enjoyable holiday:
– Take a kettle with you (or buy one there).  
– Stay in accommodation with kitchen facilities. (I have never loved a microwave so much in my life!!)
– Anti bacterial baby wipes (these were the best thing ever).
– Snap lock bags for everything from food to bottles to dirty bibs etc.
– Milton tablets for sterilising when there is no microwave or stove.
– Breast feed if possible. 
– Mosquito nets for the cot and pram.
– Baby harness for car travel.
– Lots of sunscreen and sun cover.
 And most important of all.. enjoy yourself!! If you are careful and plan ahead there is no need to be anxious.

India Wedding


As we get ready to head off on our annual India holiday, I thought I would flashback to our Indian wedding ceremony in 2009.
We headed to India with 12 of our friends and family and travelled through India together, ending the holiday in Kovalam, Kerala where our wedding ceremony was held. The extreme highs (cruising around Allepey in a houseboat ) and extreme lows (the realisation that the return trip from Delhi to Agra by car took over 10 hours.. which we stupidly did on the same day) made this trip the most memorable yet!

What to Wear: Perth Cup

Day at the races

The biggest event of the Perth Racing Festival is coming up fast. For those of you stuck on what to wear to this year’s Perth Cup I have put together a what to wear guide.
You’re welcome!!
1. Bardot Peplum Dress – A simple dress that doesn’t show to much skin is a race day must.
2. Mimco Feather Veil – I am not a fan of the fascinator so when I saw Mimco’s feather veil it instantly captured my heart!  It is the perfect head piece for the anti-fascintator fashionista.
3. Turquoise Diva Necklace – A black and white dress calls for a colourful statement necklace. Bright Summer colours are a must and the bigger the better!
4. Kotur Pearce Clutch – A metallic hard case clutch with just enough room for the race day essentials. Lipstick, powder and a pencil (for filling in the betting cards!!)
5. Guiseppe Zanotti Wedges – A comfortable wedge shoe. No explanation necessary here but I will give a small hint: Grass everywhere.

Perth Fashion Festival 2012

This year’s Perth Fashion Festival is just around the corner. The excitement is building for the events 14th year with the official program launch earlier today.

This year PFF will be host to 36 fashion forward events. The festival will run from 19th September until the 25th September and this year includes four stand alone designer showcases, three WA designer capsule shows and a new free event Fashionably Loud combining music and fashion with designers such as Ellery, Story by Tang, Kitty Grace and Belle Bijoux showcasing some of their hottest items to the tunes of San Cisco.

Another new initiative this year is the VIP Closing Night event: Giving Back is the New Black. PFF is teaming up with Ready to Work ( a charity that supports disadvantaged women) for a showcase of WA designers take on the little black dress.
