Wearing: ASOS Denim Jeans, H and M Denim Shirt (Similar here and here), Leather Jacket (Similar here), Betts boots, Saint Laurent Clutch.
Denim on denim has almost become a fashion lover’s style staple these days. Gone are the days where wearing double anything was considered a fashion faux pas, and I couldn’t be happier.
I love a good matching outfit (see the evidence here and here!) and matching denim with denim is no exception!
These denim jeansfrom ASOSare a recent purchase and I have to say one of the most comfortable pairs of jeans I own. I could practically wear them every day. (Ok, so I kind of do!) I wore them with this H and M shirt that I picked up at a recent blogger garage sale for $2! The best two dollars I’ve ever spent, I reckon!
What do you think? Do you dare to double up your denim?
Wearing: Atmos and Here Skirt, Dotti T-Shirt, Valleygirl Jacket (similar here and here), Betts Boots – Sold out (similar here), Saint Laurent Clutch.
I picked up this jacket recently from Valley Girl, of all places. The stunning blue colour caught my eye and although I did hesitate slightly before purchasing (I wondered how much wear I would get from a baby blue leather jacket!) I now know I definitely made the right choice. It has slotted into my wardrobe perfectly, teaming nicely with the abundance of pastels I have and of course everything black and white!!
Another gloriously sunny Spring Winter day here in Perth today and it looks like it is going to stay that way for the weekend. Thank you weather gods!
Hope everyone is having a fabulous Friday! What are your plans for the weekend??
STYLEAID is Perth’s premier fashion fundraiser event, raising much needed funds for the WA Aids Council. The event was held last Friday at the Crown Grand Ballroom and this year saw guests come together for a ‘mythical’ evening. Talented local and international designers took to the runway to showcase their latest collections and along with performances by the West Australian Ballet, the night certainly didn’t disappoint.
Highlights from the show included Zhivago’s edgy designs (and those gold hotpants!), Ae’lkemi’s sheer lace creations and Aurelio Costarella’s stunning beaded and feather detailing.
I went behind the scenes to capture all the backstage action and while I attempted to shoot the runway too, unfortunately for me (and you, I suppose!) my modest camera lens couldn’t capture the show as well as I hoped.
However, you can view all the images from the catwalk here.
Wearing: One Teaspoon Bandits, French Connection Jumper, Vintage Coat (similar here and here), Spurr Boots, French Connection Bag (similar here)
My very first pair of One Teaspoon shorts.. I felt a little bit like a kid at Christmas when I finally received these the other week!! The casual, effortless and comfy (don’t forget comfy!) ‘Bandits‘ have been around for a while and are THE ultimate Summer* short (and if I had my way Winter short too!)
In an attempt to make denim shorts a little more Winter friendly, I teamed them with an over the knee boot, leaving minimal leg exposed for the cold air to attack, add to that a few extra layers and guess what? It worked! I was warm!**
Shorts: the new Winter staple!?!
*Summer side note: 119 days to go!
**It may have also had something to do with the fact that 20 degree sunny days are fairly common in the middle of Winter for Perth so I probably could have worn less than this and still been quite warm!!
Tomorrow marks the start of August, which also means it’s the start of this year’s Restyle Photo-A-Day Opshop Challenge! (Can you believe it has been a year!)
Just in case you are staring at your screen with a confused expression, let me explain.
Restyle is an initiative by the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival that highlights the importance of op shopping and aims to raise awareness about how it benefits our community. The Photo-A-Day Opshop Challenge invites you to get involved by shopping at your local opshops throughout the month and creating outfits each day using the prompts above.
Do you accept the challenge?!
I was lucky enough to be one of the official Restylers for last year’s challenge. I had so much fun shopping and creating outfits! You can check out some of my favourite looks here, here and here!
A fresh batch of Restyle bloggers have accepted the challenge this year to inspire and encourage you in your Restyling efforts. Be sure to check them out below and follow all the Restyle action on social media using #restyle2014.
Good luck to this year’s Restylers.. I am so excited to see what you come up with!
So over to you…Get creative, get (re) styling and get down to your local op shop!
The lovely (and oh so talented) Mekel Illustration opened a brand new studio at the Bayview Centre in Claremont last week and I was there to help celebrate!
The amount of support for Kelly was extremely evident on the night, with over 180 people coming down to witness the beginning of this new era.
Guests sipped on delicious cocktails by Cocktail Gastronomyand snacked on tasty treats (the chocolate brownies…OMG!) courtesy ofCookie Dough Biscuitswhile browsing (and purchasing!) Kelly’s latest art works.
I have been a fan of Kelly’s work for a while now, (I even did a little interview with her following the opening of her last exhibition wanderlust – check it out here if you missed it) her unique style of illustration with stunning pops of watercolour really appeals to me.. and well, who doesn’t love pretty pictures of fashionable girls!
If you are ever in the area (or even if you are not!) I highly recommend popping in to the studio.

Can you believe it is Friday already?! Not that I’m complaining or anything.. Fridays are the best! The anticipation of the weekend to come is enough to put anyone in a good mood.
This outfit was from a couple of weekends ago, taken on the way to my local pub (the perfect way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon, don’t you agree?)
Being a Sunday comfort was key, because let’s face it Sundays are made for relaxing, so out came my Cameo pants (actually come to think of it last time I wore them it was a Sunday too!) I added some heels to give the illusion of effort (and well, because I am ridiculously short!) and my Sunday style was complete.
What do you think? What’s your ultimate Sunday style outfit?
With Splendour in The Grass on this weekend and the Northern Hemisphere smack bang in the middle of their Summer festival season, I thought I would put together a list of my top 10 music festival essentials.
Even though none of these apply to me, (I am stuck on the west coast of Australia!) I actually had a lot of fun compiling this list and it made me even more excited for the upcoming Summer festivals.. you know in a few months time. (Hurry up Summer!)
So here it is. My top 10 festival must haves:
1. The denim short – pretty much a festival staple! Comfy, casual and easy to sit down in!
2. A comfy pair of shoes – You will be on grass and you will be dancing.. all day. Need I say more.
3. A jacket – Even though the sun may be shining during the day (if you are lucky), the temperature will definitely be cooler in the evening.. and the evening sets are always the best so you don’t want to be shivering in a corner somewhere, too cold to enjoy them!
Shop Shorts, Jackets and Shoes Here:
4. Sunglasses – Protect your eyes from the sun and look like a rock star while doing it!!
5. Hat – Yep, another sun protection/style essential item. (I love a good double duty item!)
6. Day bag – Make sure it is big enough for all your essentials but still easy to carry. A cross body satchel or back pack is ideal.
7. Arm Candy – Complete the festival look with loads of bling.
Shop Sunnies, Bags and Hats Here:
8. Sunscreen – This one is practical and very, very necessary. Even if it looks like it will be cloudy/rain, sunscreen is still a definite must.
9. Foundation- A light easy to wear foundation such as a tinted moisturiser is preferable.
10. Lip Balm – There is nothing worse than dry, cracked lips, especially after a whole day of screaming singing along to your favourite tunes!
Shop Sunscreen, Foundation and Lip Balm Here:
So there you have it. Hopefully I have helped you all get festival ready!
Do you agree with my list? Let me know what your ultimate festival essential is!!

Monday : 1, Emily : 0.
What a great start to the week… So far today my computer has crashed four five times. I’m not sure if it is just feeling the Monday vibe (like most of us) or if this is going to be it’s new, permanent state of being! Whatever it is, it’s certainly made me realise just how much I rely on my computer on a day to day basis. I probably spend more time on my computer than I do doing anything else which is a little bit of a scary thought!
In order to get this post up, I have had to resort to handwriting it out and hoping my computer will stay on long enough for me to quickly type it in when it’s done.*
Oh and did I mention my husband just rang to say I left my car keys in his car.. better make that 2-nil, Monday!
Anyway moving on, without pointing out the fact that I am wearing another midi skirt, (did anybody notice?!) I would just like to say that this sequin skirt was an absolute steal from Dotti (and is now even more of a bargain at just $9.95!) It’s a really great fit and it is covered in sequins, what more could you possibly want from a skirt?!
I hope everyone’s Monday is going a little better than mine!
