If you haven’t heard of online fashion store Hello Parry yet, then where have you been?! The Perth based store stocks the coolest range of fashion forward, street style inspired, on trend pieces and is loved by fashionistas everywhere!
I recently picked up a few items from their new Spring range and loved them both so much I wore them together. I love the colour combination of nude and white for Spring. It looks so fresh and stylish and is a great way to test the waters of the current white-on-white trend if you are too scared to wear an all white outfit. (Yep, my hand is up!)

As part of this year’s Telstra Perth Fashion Festival Hello Parry will be showcasing the latest Spring collection in their first ever runway show. Is it wrong that this is the show I am most excited about?!
If you are in Perth then head down to Fashion Central at 2:30pm for the show. Did I mention it was FREE!

For all the details head here. Hope to see you there!

Today I wanted to give you a little insight into the ‘real life of a fashion blogger’.
Firstly, let me start off by saying, it is damn hard work! Sure, there are fun sides to it, I mean who doesn’t love dressing up in new clothes and yes, attending fashion events is a pretty rad perk too, but for the most part fashion blogging is not all glitz and glam!

To give you an insight into a typical outfit post, let me talk you through this one.

Step 1. Creating the outfit.
Now this is the bit I love the most but it is definitely not without it’s challenges. Let’s all take a moment to remember the last time we got ready to go out somewhere. How long did it take? An hour? Hour and a half? Then flashback to how your clothes looked afterwards. In a pile on the floor, right? Yep, mine are all still there!! (That’s another hour hanging all those back up!)
Ok, I’m finally ready to go. Grab the camera, the photographer (aka the husband!) and yep, I suppose I better bring the two year old along too. (Which also means snacks and entertainment must be packed.)

Step 2. Location scouting.
I always try to incorporate a photo shoot around whatever we are doing that day, so sometimes I have no idea where that day’s shoot will be taking place. This particular day we had just been out for lunch in the Swan Valley. We decided to head back towards Midland industrial area to see what we could find. Driving around searching for the perfect spot can be a very tedious and time consuming exercise, especially when the sun begins to fade later in the day. We were pretty lucky this time and came across this abandoned building without too much searching.

Step 3. The photo shoot.
Ok, we have found a spot and we are on. So far it is going well, only minimal stares from people driving past wondering what the hell we are doing. Oh sorry, what was that little miss Z? You need to go to the toilet? Right now?! Ummm well there’s a bush over there so let’s give that a go!!** (In case you were wondering yes, of course she weed on her clothes.. after a quick pants change we were back shooting again!)

Step 4. Photo editing.
After the shoot the photos need to be edited, yep all 378* of them. Culled, cropped, edited, uploaded then added to the blog, one by one.. using html!

Step 5. Compose the post.
Alright photos are done, go me! Next I need to write the post. This can be one of the harder parts for me. Let’s just say if my high school English teacher knew I was writing on a daily basis I think she may have a fit! I had the idea to give a behind the scenes look at a blog post a while ago so this post was really fun to write! (Hopefully to read too!)

Step 6. Promote the post.
Post composed and published. Yay! We are done!!
Oh no, no no.. do you even know how big the internet is? (Actually neither do I!) but let’s just say, it is BIG! Trying to get your little old post seen is pretty darn difficult. You need to hustle like a mother f*£%$er to get people on to that site. So, this is the part were I stand on the (virtual) street corner pimping out my post out to anyone who is interested.

Aaaand.. when all that is done, I do it all over again for the next post. What a glamorous life!

* May be a slight exaggeration.
**For the record this was my daughter’s first attempt at a bush squat and she was less that impressed!

Mad Love

One teaspoon shorts, mustang bandits
Mad love the label leopard open back top
Wearing: One Teaspoon ShortsMad Love the Label Top, Dorothy Perkins Blazer, Peep Toe Booties (similar here), Celine Tote.

You will no doubt soon be sick of hearing it, but Spring is here!
The only reason I bring it up now (as I look out the window at my broken back fence that was blown down in last night’s storm!) is because this top by Mad Love the Label has Spring written all over it (which surprisingly looks just like leopard print!) The open back and slouch style is the ultimate!

I got a little excited a few weeks ago, at the first sign of sunny weather, and went straight for the shorts but a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans or a crisp white pair of pants would work just as well with this style.

Now all we need is for the weather gods to hurry up and get the memo..

Karrinyup Shopping Centre Spring/Summer ’14

Karrinyup Shopping Centre pulled out all the stops to officially launch into the Spring Summer ’14 season. The VIP event was held at the centre earlier this week. Guests were treated to live illustration, a catwalk preview and a style session with Elle Ferguson and Tash Sefton, the stylish duo behind the blog, They All Hate Us

I have been big fans of these two for a while and after meeting them can safely say my style crush has now developed into an all round girl crush!!
The ladies were just so darn likeable, funny and down to earth, it is easy to see why they are excelling at what they do.
They are also big advocates for pairing designer pieces with more affordable high-street items. Elle admitted to wearing a $40 H&M outfit to fashion week previously, shocking her fellow fashionistas! We also learnt that Elle can not live without her denim shorts (or her curling wand!) and Tash has to have a weekly blowdry to keep her looking and feeling good, because let’s face it the hair is just as important as the outfit right?!

The lovely Mekel Illustration showcased her amazing talent with a live illustration of the girls as they chatted onstage.

The ladies answered questions from the audience and talked us through some of the key looks for the Spring Summer season.

White on White, Floral on floral (for women and men!), Metallics and Monochrome are just some of the key fashion trends for the upcoming season.

All these looks (and more) are available at Karrinyup Shopping Centre.

The Edit: Off the Shoulder

As we officially welcome Spring into our lives once more, it is time to start preparing for the sunny days ahead. (Although, who am I kidding? I’ve been ready for Spring since the first of June!)
Today’s edit is all about the style that is making a comeback. Yep, I bet you thought the ‘off the shoulder’ trend had died a few decades ago, but as the temperature (very slowly) rises and we look forward to the warmer weather, baring your shoulders is taking off!

Will you dare to bare (your shoulders) this Spring?

Wearing: Mink Pink TopHello Parry Skirt, Betts Boots – sold out (similar here and here), French Connection Bag (similar here)

Every time I wear something by Mink Pink I am transported back to the 90’s.
Being an awkward teenager I went through many (questionable!) fashion stages in the nineties, one of those of course was the ‘Clueless’ phase. My favourite fashion moment of this time was a red, black and white tartan shift dress that I wore with knee high socks. I wore it a lot. I even changed up the knee high socks occasionaly switching from black to white. It was also right around the time I decided I wanted to become a fashion designer and the first piece I ‘designed’ (never quite made it to production!) was a purple cropped t-shirt with a giant velvet, burgundy heart in the front. (Another nod to the iconic movie!)

Although this top by Mink Pink is clearly not influenced by clueless, the 90’s vibe is still strong! I love the high neck and sleeveless style and well, leopard print is my favourite colour. I styled it with a bright skater skirt to complete my trip down memory lane. All that’s missing is the knee highs!

What is your favourite fashion moment of the 90’s?

Black Lace

Wearing: Saints + Secrets Black Lace TopSportsgirl White Skirt (Old – similar here), Black Heels (similar here ), Saint Laurent Clutch.

Who doesn’t love a bit of sheer black lace?

Walking through Myer the other day I noticed a label I hadn’t seen before, Saints + Secrets. I did a double take when I saw this top even though my internal finance department screamed at me to keep walking (I had just been to the new Zara store opening!). My love of lace got the better of me and a purchase was made. I love how the sex appeal of the top is balanced out with the longer sleeves and the lace detailing is just perfection!
I’m quite certain that I made the right decision with this purchase. You can’t go wrong with black and lace, right? I even think my nerdy inner bean counter would agree!

Halfway to the weekend!! We got this!

Black Basics

Wearing: Zalora Black SkirtH and M Denim Shirt (Old – similar here and here) Kmart Heels (similar here ), Sporstgirl Clutch (Old – similar here).

Monday again! Welcome to a brand new week. Hope everybody had a fabulous weekend!
As I type this I am desperately trying to watch the VMA’s live online which is proving to be very difficult and quite annoying. I just wanna see Bey!!*

Anyway, moving on! Today’s outfit features my new go to black skirt. I only recently realised that there was a gap in my wardrobe where a black skirt was supposed to be. How did I not have a plain black skirt in my wardrobe?! The problem has now been resolved with this asymmetrical skirt by Zalora. I love how the longer length is balanced out with a front split (and did I mention it is under $20!). You will definitely be seeing a lot more of this one!

*UPDATE: I watched it. She killed it!
