Reviewing Picoway Resolve laser treatment…
You know the saying ‘you are not getting any younger’? Well, I feel like it was said with skin in mind! As I am getting older, I have been on a bit of a mission to have healthy glowing skin. Fed up with years and years of bad skin, acne, scarring and pigmentation, the time had come to finally do something about it! One of the treatments I am undergoing at the moment is a laser treatment called Picoway Resolve at Skin Revive Clinic. It basically works by shattering the pigment into tiny particles which can then be easily eliminated from the body.
My main skin concerns:
I have always had a problem with hormonal acne. Constantly getting pimples around my chin, means lots of old scarring has built up. I also have a few sun spots and sun damage from years of not wearing sunscreen (I do religiously now, though!!) Lastly as I mentioned, I am getting OLD so fine lines and ageing is now one of my main concerns!
After a consultation with Dr Romi, we headed into the treatment room where the nurse applied a topical numbing cream to my face. I was left to wait for around 20 minutes so the cream could take effect. I have to admit, I was a little nervous as to how it would feel to have a numb face, but it was fine! The Picoway treatment involves short laser pulses to break down the pigment. Dr Romi ‘zapped’ my face twice over with a medium intensity light pulse and then upped the intensity for another two rounds. Neither laser hurt, but the more intense laser made my skin burn up so it was quite uncomfortable, but it only lasted for about 5 mins after the treatment ended. Oh and the best part about Picoway Resolve treatment is that there is literally no down-time, so no need to hide away for a week while your skin repairs!
After the Picoway Resolve treatment, the skin needs to regenerate so it can take up to four weeks to see results. The ‘after’ pics below were taken four weeks after the first treatment. The sun spots and freckles have diminished quite a lot. Even though it is hard to see, as new acne scars have come up in the last four weeks, the acne scarring is definitely reduced too. Dr Romi suggested three treatments in total, four weeks apart, to see the best results with the acne scarring. Overall my skin is definitely smoother and the sun damage and acne scarring has been reduced greatly.
