What to Wear: Casual Date Night

In keeping with this week’s theme of love, today I thought I would share my idea of the perfect date and, of course the outfit I would wear!

White Slides

Honestly though, Valentine’s Day is not really something my husband and I celebrate.. personally it feels like a bit of a money making scheme with unnecessary gifts and money being spent on one day of the year when really love should be celebrated in your own way, whenever you want! (Although.. any excuse for a beautiful bunch of flowers suits me!)
I remember when we first started dating we made a dinner reservation for Valentine’s day one year and as we were seated in the restaurant we were informed that as it was Valentine’s day there was a special compulsory set menu which was $80 per head! What??! We were just there for the Wednesday night pasta special! Of course we had no choice but to stay and try to enjoy our ridiculously overpriced meal.. but it kind of left a sour taste in my mouth (excuse the pun!) about the whole V-day situation.

Anyway in saying all of that I do like to use Valentine’s day as a reminder to make some time for each other in this hectic world we live in (sans child, of course!!) One of my favourite things to do on ‘ casual date night’ (or date day as the case may be!) is to pack a basket full of delicious picnic food and head off to a picturesque location to eat it all! Which is exactly what we will be doing this weekend!
Oh, and naturally I couldn’t finish this post without talking about my outfit!! My idea of the perfect picnic outfit = comfy pants (do not try picnicking in a mini skirt because that is NOT comfortable!), a cute top (off the shoulder for extra sexiness) and a pair of slides that can be slipped off the second you sit down!! Finish off with some dainty accessories (coffee optional) and you are ready for a casual, food filled (the only way to do a date!), fun day.

I still love this polka dot top!! But it would be falling down off of me the whole time! Love the colours, very casual date appropriate. Man, that surprise set menu doesn’t sound fun, I am actually surprised you guys didn’t just leave. I probably would have! haha.
A picnic lunch is exactly what we got up to on Valentine’s Day this year, even if it was around 3pm and we accidentally sat in the pathway of the after school pick up in the park across from a primary school. Haha
