Denim again?! I told you the blog should be called She does denim!!
I really hope that you guys are as in love with denim as I am? Feel free to suggest some other topics you would like covered, if you are not! haha!
Today I am teaming up with my denim soul sister, Jenelle from Inspiring Wit, to share two denim trends that you need to get on board with this season.
Starting with the Mom jean…
There is a very fine line when it comes to comfy fashion that still looks chic. The Mom jean can easily fall into the ultra daggy category if not done right! I do admit that it took me a good while to warm up to the Mom jean, but after may failed changeroom attempts I finally learned the secret to pulling of Mom jeans. It’s all in the cut. Poorly cut Mom jeans are not a good look. Make sure when trying them on they are not too baggy around the middle section and that the leg is a fairly fitted straight cut. I also think a cropped length works better with this style too! Jenelle and I are both big fans of the Topshop range of Mom jeans. They fit so well and the price is very reasonable. Jenelle is wearing a Topshop pair above and after hearing her talk about how great they were, I headed into Topshop to try them for myself! I picked up this pair for myself and jumped straight on the Mom jean train.. toot toot!
How to style the Mom Jean:
The trick to pulling off Mom jeans is to make sure you show off your waist. A tucked in tee or a crop top are the perfect partner to the high-waisted style and pairing the straight leg cut with a simple strappy heel or plain pump can help to elongate the legs and avoid looking frumpy.

Next up is the longline denim jacket…
Of course we all have a trusty denim jacket in our wardrobe, right? (IF NOT.. GET ONE IMMEDIATELY!!) Ok, now that we are all familiar with the traditional, regular fitting denim jacket, it’s time to experiment with its cooler, edgier sister, the oversized longline denim jacket. Again, this one can be a bit of a tricky one to wear.. even Jenelle was not convinced when I picked this one up off the rack!
How to style the longline denim jacket:
The best (and the easiest!) way to style the longline denim jacket is with a t-shirt dress (like I have done above.. so comfy too!) Personally, I don’t think this denim style suits a fitted dress or skirt as the proportions look a little wrong, a flowy skirt or dress works better. Alternatively a skinny leg pair of black or white jeans would make for a super cool street style look.
