Winter is all about layering. Layering for warmth (duh!) but also, layering because Winter fashion is the best thing about Winter.. in fact, it may well be the only thing that keeps us going through the colder months! Today I wanted to help get you through those chilly days with five foolproof tips to have you nailing that perfectly layered Winter outfit every time!
Step 1: Start with the base. A longline tunic top or oversized shirt is the key to building a layered look. Opting for a neutral colour, such as white, will mean you can wear it in any (or all.. hey no judgement here – I have been wearing my one above to death!) of your layered looks as it will easily go with everything!
Step 2: A slouchy knit. Selecting the right knit is key. Go for a knit that is oversized but not too long (otherwise it will defeat the purpose of the layer underneath!) Find a knit that doesn’t have a tight waistband on it too.. it needs to hang loose! Side splits are optional (but preferred!!)
Step 3: Pair with a fitted bottom. You need to balance out all those oversized layers on top with a skinny leg style of jeans or pants on the bottom.
Step 4: Accessorise with a chunky scarf. I was so excited when I found this Acne look-a-like scarf at the HM sale last week… for around 1/10th of the price too, might I add! Score! It has just made my layered looks.. well more layered!
Step 5: Add the outerwear. A leather jacket or a wool coat are among my favourite outerwear options, but a bomber or a chunky knit cardi would work too.
