Pleated skirts are having a moment.. find the fit that’s right for you!
Hi everybody.. Happy mid week! Can you believe we are down to the last few weeks of the year?! Seriously though, where has the time gone! I have had such a busy November, and December is always crazy, so it looks like it is going to be a big finish to the year! Phew..
Anyway today I wanted to take a quick look at pleated skirts, you have no doubt seen them popping up everywhere lately. I have even shared my love for the metallic pleated skirt in the past, however I have to admit I was slightly hesitant to give this trend a go at first. I worried the style would not be very flattering but after a little bit of research and a few change room trips later, I think I have them figured out!
If you have an hourglass shape, or if you are wanting to create the illusion of an hourglass figure, then go for a full voluminous accordion pleat like this one, or if you are wanting a slimmer look, then choose a skirt with small pleats (like the one I’m wearing) or flat knife pleats. The midi length looks best with heels and a pair of simple pumps in a nude colour will help elongate the legs.
The most flattering way to wear a pleated skirt for any figure is by highlighting your waist and tucking in your top. Go for a cropped top or a sheer blouse, if you dare, or add a belt at the waist. Although if you don’t really care about rules and just want to wear pleated skirts your own way then an oversized jumper and sneakers is the chicest way to rock the look.. but just don’t expect your man to like it (or understand it for that matter!)
