Want to wear a skirt in Winter…it can be done!!
Winter is now in full swing down her on the south side of the globe. I have been LIVING in denim these past few weeks, and as much as I love me some denim, the urge to mix it up and try something different, (such as gasp.. a skirt!) is strong!!
So, today I thought I would share with you some tips on how to wear a skirt in Winter (while staying warm, of course!) Personally I love an oversized knit and skirt combo, but it can be a bit tricky to get it right! (I experimented a lot, guys!) One of the things I found worked best for me (ie.. if you are petite) was to stick to a fitted midi skirt. Side splits optional! If you are taller, then a slight a-line midi or a fuller circle midi skirt would work for you!
When choosing your knit go for a finer knit option. Nothing too bulky! Oversized is best but make sure that it is not too long (or short!), sitting a little below the hips is the optimal length, especially when paired with a midi skirt. For extra warmth opt for a turtleneck knit (mmm cosy!).
When it comes to the shoes, even though I am short, I still like to pair ankle boots and midi skirts, plus… well I don’t want my feet to be cold, do I? Lastly, if you are going to add a jacket, a leather or denim jacket, or a long coat are your best options!
Hopefully I have inspired you to mix up your Winter style, and get out of those jeans…
