Every Winter I like to update my coat collection with at least one new edition. When choosing a new coat there are a few points I like to consider. As a coat is usually quite a high priced item, I think it’s important to ensure the coat will not only last multiple seasons, but be able to be paired with quite a few different colours and outfits. This is why generally I will lean towards a neutral colour coat. As much as I love the idea of a statement coat, I feel it would date very easily or you would just get sick of it quite quickly (does this happen to you? I get sick of some of my clothes so quickly! How fickle am I?) and plus wouldn’t it be much more fun creating a statement outfit underneath a neutral coat? I think yes!
I mentioned previously that I have camel coat from a few Winters ago that is still going strong, so this year I decided to add a lighter, beige colour coat. I love the longer length on this one as it works for both casual and more dressy occasions. So now my wardrobe consists of a grey coat, a camel coat and a beige coat which I think is the perfect combination. Personally I don’t have a black coat, (I have plenty of black jackets to make up for that though!) I like to wear a lot of black anyway so an all black outfit with a black coat may just be a little… too much black! (Did I just say that?! Is there even such a thing as too much black!) Anyway my neutral coat options are working well for me so far..
