Wearing: Boohoo Coat, Over-the-knee Boots (Suede version here), Seed Shorts, Sportsgirl Jumper (Sold out – similar here).

You may be surprised to know that the majority of today’s outfit is made up of items from past Winter seasons.  The coat, knit and boots are all from last Winter (or even the Winter before!). There are certain key wardrobe pieces that never seem to go out of style and last throughout multiple seasons. Take the camel coat for example, a definite Winter wardrobe essential. It took me a little while to add one to my wardrobe, but it has been the perfect addition. I love the longer length on this one which means it is great for wearing with shorts.. Not exactly the most traditional Winter outfit I know, but my current favourite combination!

A cream knit is another piece that needs to be part of you capsule wardrobe for Winter.  Whether it be an oversized style like this one or a more fitted, shorter one the cream colour goes well with black and other darker winter shades such as tan, khaki and navy.

Lastly, while over the knee boots may not be considered a classic wardrobe piece, they are still going strong this Winter and I do see them sticking around for a while to come. I have actually worn mine about three times already and we are not even in Winter yet! If the over the knee style is a little too much for you, a knee high boot is just as good, and in fact should be part of every Winter wardrobe too!

Over the knee are actually one of my winter staples. They go so well with long oversize sweaters and a short skirt. I love your combo pieces! The color of the long coat is so lush. I love how you’ve added length and short pieces together.

You look so beautiful, Emily! I adore your entire look, that coat is such a fabulous piece, so stylish and I love the color! I agree with your essentials, all of which are indeed classics that will never go out of style, ensuring you’ll be able to use them for years to come! With that, those OTK boots are also really fab and add a nice edgy touch to your outfit! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have an amazing day ahead!

Love how you put this whole outfit together, especially love the shorts with the chunky knit sweater! It’s so important to have timeless pieces you can wear over and over. A camel coat would definitely be in my winter essentials list too, also an oversized blanket scarf (it gets pretty cold here in NYC during the winter months!)

  20. […] I mentioned previously that I have camel coat from a few Winters ago that is still going strong, so this year I decided to add a lighter, beige colour coat. I love the longer length on this one as it works for both casual and more dressy occasions. So now my wardrobe consists of a grey coat, a camel coat and a beige coat which I think is the perfect combination. Personally I don’t have a black coat, (I have plenty of black jackets to make up for that though!) I like to wear a lot of black anyway so an all black outfit with a black coat may just be a little… too much black! (Did I just say that?! Is there even such a thing as too much black!) Anyway my neutral coat options are working well for me so far.. […]
