My hair before (no laughing!)
As the weather warms up and we start to spend more time out in the elements, the one thing that seems to suffer the most is our hair. (Well, I certainly know mine does!) When it comes to skin and body care I often forget all about my hair and after years of neglect and mistreatment, it shows! I recently had the big chop, thinking that by getting rid of all my unhealthy ends my hair problems would be gone. However, I still didn’t really invest any time or effort into looking after it and I am pretty much back to square one with unhealthy ends, dry scalp and as Jess at Etain Skin and Hair Clinic so nicely put it ‘a bit of self-layering’ where my ends have snapped right off in certain areas after years of straightening. Oopsy!
Anyway, this Summer I have made it my mission to protect my hair and treat it right, while also achieving a lighter colour for the warmer months. I headed in to see the ladies at Etain who were up for the challenge!
Etain Skin Clinic and Hair Salon adopts the La Biosthetique (don’t ask me to pronounce that!) total beauty concept, which is all about creating a luxurious EXPERIENCE while at the salon. Using specialty products and providing 5-star treatment they aim to have you relaxed and feeling great when you walk out the door.. exactly how a trip to the salon should be if you ask me!
I started my visit with a delicious lemon tea, followed by a relaxing scalp massage using Visarome essential oils. My colour was put on and while I waited for it to develop, I chatted with Jess about some of her best Summer hair care advice.
Favourite hair product for Summer:
- Beach Effect Styling Spray – A voluminous spray that gives a beach babe look while also protecting against heat and UV rays.
- Luxury Spa Oil – A moisturising oil that softens and hydrates the hair while also preventing breakage.
- Powder Spray – A styling product that adds texture and volume without feeling heavy on your hair.
Tips for looking after you hair through Summer:
Always, always use a heat protector when styling. (Point made!) Invest in a sunscreen for your hair (yes, there is such a thing!) it helps to keep your colour and stops the sun from sucking all the moisture from it. Lastly, add a leave-in conditioner to your routine, it helps to nourish the hair and reduces chlorine build up.
Summer hair trends:
It’s all about subtle balayage this Summer, more free hand styles when creating the effect and a focus on creamier blondes.
Now, armed with all my newly found hair knowledge, I am (even more) ready for SUMMER and hopefully you are too!
A special thank you to the ladies at Etain for my fabulous new hair and for imparting their hair wisdom for today’s post!
