Welcome to part one of my (mini) mini series to officially welcome Spring to our shores! Yay for Spring!! I can’t decide if I’m more excited about the fact that Spring is here, or the fact that Winter is OVER!! (Probably the fact Winter is over, to be honest!)
Although, I am writing this huddled under several blankets and covered from head to toe.. and I’m still freezing! Damn you Winter, go away!
Anyway, to welcome my second favourite season (Guess what my favourite is?!) I am featuring one of the Spring/Summer trends I am loving, Cut-outs.
In my excitement for all things Spring/Summer, as soon as the first drop of S/S 15 trends starting hitting the shops, they were also hitting my wardrobe! (Can you blame me?!) One of the trends I was drawn to was the use of subtle (keyword!!) cut-outs to add interesting elements to pieces, like in this Witchery crop top (side note: new season Witchery is killing it, so many things on my wishlist! Ummm.. here and here!!)
Now I know a lot of people are a bit turned off by cut-outs, and I do agree they can be a little.. confronting.. but the key is to keep the cut-out subtle. Say it with me now: subtle! A peek of shoulder, or a slither of midriff are acceptable ways to wear the trend (read: a giant section of your dress missing, is not!)
For today’s look, I have gone for a casual take on the trend. I love teaming skirts with sneakers, and think it gives a ‘cool girl’ vibe to an outfit. (Well, I feel pretty cool when I do it anyway.. and super comfortable too! Bonus!) I also wore it with my new favourite cross body bag by Naked Vice, and what I like to call my Celine Triostepping stone! One day!!
Keep your eye out for Part Two tomorrow where I style the top for a dressier occasion!
