You may be wondering: ‘what the hell is Lagree?!’ I admit I was wondering the same thing the first time I heard the term. Of course, I immediately looked to the one method I use for answering 99% of life’s little questions.. and typed that exact question into Google!
What I learnt is that Lagree is an excercise done on a fancy machine called a Megaformer, a pimped up version of the pilates reformer machine. The Lagree workout combines high intensity strength moves with pilates exercises to condition and tone the body. Sounds pretty serious huh?! Well, it was! Armed with a little bit of knowledge as to what a Lagree class entailed, I grabbed my #fitclubperth* girls and headed to Lafit Studio in Subiaco to try it for myself.
Firstly let me start by saying, I consider myself to be fairly strong as I exercise regularly and incorporate a lot of strength training into my routine. I thought the class would be on par with what I am used to, so I didn’t think I would find it too hard. Well let me tell you, the class kicked my butt. I was sore for days after and could hardly move, which weirdly I was incredibly happy about.. Nothing like some sore muscles to know you had a darn good workout! My obliques and inner thighs in particular were screaming the next day, obviously the areas that don’t normally get too much attention in my usual workouts. Luckily though, the Megaformer does not discriminate against any body part and works every.single.muscle! How considerate!
